NAVFAC Hawaii physical scientist recognized as PAC AOR Employee of the Year
Rossi, who has worked for NAVFAC HI since May 2021, was recognized for her exceptional leadership, technical expertise and initiative in spearheading the Navy’s Red Hill Groundwater Monitoring Well Network Expansion Program.
"I was originally hired as an environmental engineer for the Red Hill project to support compliance and modeling efforts. However, shortly after starting my NAVFAC HI career, Red Hill became an emergency project," said Rossi. "After November 2021, my role shifted to support the various emergency orders and remediation projects. My main role and passion project eventually became the Monitoring Well Expansion Program."
The PAC AOR Employee of the Year recognizes an employee and team belonging to either NAVFAC Far East, Hawaii, Marianas, Northwest, OICC China Lake, OICC Marine Corps Marianas, OICC Naval Shipyard, or Southwest who have demonstrates exemplary and noteworthy performance throughout the fiscal year of 2025 and was recognized in 2026.
Representing NAVFAC HI at the NAVFAC PAC level was an honor to Rossi, who said she was humbled by the recognition as she looks forward to continuing to learn and grow throughout her NAVFAC career.
"Receiving this award makes me emotional, in the best way possible!" said Rossi. "I would not be who I am today without my incredible work ohana. Their guidance and wisdom over the years has really shaped me and contributed to my NAVFAC professional career success."
Working on the Red Hill mission pushed Rossi outside of her comfort zone while providing her opportunities to grow as both a leader and a teammate.
"Working for the Red Hill project is a rollercoaster at times, but it is never not interesting, and it has allowed me to work with some incredible people, who have heavily contributed to my NAVFAC HI success today," said Rossi. "This past year has served a lot of unique challenges. Our small but mighty team got even smaller, and yet, we still continued to hit milestones and keep spirits high."
As she looks toward the next chapter of her NAVFAC career, Rossi hopes to continue taking on new challenges and opportunities, including, perhaps one day, a move to her dream duty location in Sigonella, Italy.
